Before acquiring a new device, you are advised to check with its manufacturer if it can be adapted to handle the new banknotes of the Europa series (ES2).

Remarks

1. It is not clear whether the device complies with any national or European Union health and safety legislation.
2. The device does not support all denominations. Please contact the supplier for information on denominations supported.
3. The device supports all feeding orientations.
4. The device supports one feeding orientation only.

Use of devices and banknote handling machines

The listed devices do not qualify as banknote handling machines in line with Decision ECB/2010/14 on the authenticity and fitness checking and recirculation of euro banknotes. Thus, they cannot be used by credit institutions or other cash handlers for the automatic authentication of euro banknotes destined for recirculation via automated teller machines and other customer-operated cash dispensing machines.

1. The counterfeit euro banknotes used in the test are, to the best of the knowledge of the ECB and the NCBs, those most commonly found in circulation in the euro area at the time of the last update of the test deck used. Since the ECB and the NCBs cannot foresee or rule out the possibility of new types of counterfeit appearing after the test deck has been updated, manufacturers are responsible for retesting the various types of device on a regular basis. Furthermore, distributors and users of these devices are responsible for having the authentication sensors in their devices periodically updated in order to detect new counterfeits.
2. To the extent permitted by law, the ECB and the NCBs do not accept any liability whatsoever for (i) any direct or indirect damage resulting from the performance of the tests, or the publication or non-publication of the test results on, or their removal from, this page of the ECB’s website, or (ii) the outcome of the tests.
