Disclaimer on testing and results
- The counterfeit euro banknotes used in the test are, to the best of the knowledge of the ECB and the NCBs, those most commonly found in circulation in the euro area at the time of the last update of the test deck used. Since the ECB and the NCBs cannot foresee or rule out the possibility of new types of counterfeit appearing after the test deck has been updated, manufacturers are responsible for retesting the various types of device on a regular basis. Furthermore, distributors and users of these devices are responsible for having the authentication sensors in their devices periodically updated in order to detect new counterfeits.
- To the extent permitted by law, the ECB and the NCBs do not accept any liability whatsoever for (i) any direct or indirect damage resulting from the performance of the tests, or the publication or non-publication of the test results on, or their removal from, this page of the ECB’s website, or (ii) the outcome of the tests. For separate disclaimers used by the Deutsche Bundesbank and the Banco de Portugal, see below.
- The published test results neither contain nor imply any recommendation by the ECB or the NCBs to the effect that third parties should or should not use the type of device tested.
- This statement does not imply any warranty by the ECB or the NCBs, whether express or implied, to the effect that the types of device tested can detect counterfeit euro banknotes continuously and without error, or concerning their fitness for use, or their purpose, irrespective of whether the users of the devices comply with the user requirements.
Disclaimer (2) by the Deutsche Bundesbank:
The Deutsche Bundesbank does not accept any liability whatsoever for (i) any direct or indirect damage relating to the performance of the tests or the publication or non-publication of the test results on, or their removal from, this page of the ECB’s website, or (ii) the outcome of the tests, unless such damage is caused by intent or gross negligence on the part of the Deutsche Bundesbank. In addition, the limitation of liability provided for in the general disclaimer by the Deutsche Bundesbank remains applicable.
Disclaimer (2) by the Banco de Portugal:
The performance of the tests and the publication or non-publication of the test results on, or their removal from, this page of the ECB’s website, do not imply the assumption of any liability whatsoever for any direct or indirect damage relating to these matters.
