New York Fed-ECB Conference on Nonbank Financial Institutions 2026 – Call for papers

The Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the European Central Bank are organising their annual Conference on Nonbank Financial Institutions (NBFIs). The conference aims to bring together academics, central bankers, and market participants to present and discuss new research on NBFIs that is of particular interest to central banks.

Topics

The organisers welcome empirical and theoretical contributions focusing on, but not limited to, the following topics:

  • The role of different types of NBFIs (e.g., mutual funds, pension funds, insurance companies, hedge funds, or private credit funds) in financial markets
  • The vulnerabilities of NBFIs and the impact on financial stability and credit provision to the real economy
  • The effects of macroprudential regulation of NBFIs
  • The factors affecting interlinkages and interactions between NBFIs and banks, such as regulations
  • The role of NBFIs in the transmission of monetary policy
  • The role of innovations in NBFIs and the effects of these innovations on financial inclusion

Submission deadline: 30 April 2026
